Jennifer Livingston, CBS WKBT anchor, received a critical email from a sometime viewer about her weight. The email asked her to promote a healthier lifestyle via her appearance so she could be a better role model for viewers, especially young girls. Jennifer Livingston’s response was amazing, on target, and very insightful.
She started her response by sharing the email she received, and explained that people who are in the public eye receive critical emails at times by viewers. Normally, the criticisms are brushed off, but she felt like this email was different. She admitted that she was overweight, but also stated that the email writer is not her friend, family member, or even a faithful viewer, so literally knows nothing about her.
Jennifer Livingston takes a stand in this video and implores people to teach their kids to be kind, not critical and said that adults should lead by example. She explained that October is National Bullying Awareness Month and makes a direct statement to anyone being currently bullied by someone regardless of the reason (race, acne, weight, sexual preference, etc) by saying “Do not let your self worth be defined by bullies, learn from my experience that the cruel words of one are nothing compared to the shouts of many!” Please share on Facebook.
